Since 1917, the estate has been managed by the Bailliencourt dit Courcol family, one of France's oldest aristocratic lineages, now in its fifth generation under Nicolas de Bailliencourt. Château Gazin benefits from the exceptional terroir of the Pomerol plateau. The topsoil consists of Günzian gravel, while the subsoil is composed of blue and green clays rich in iron oxides (smectites). This unique geological structure ensures a steady water supply and imparts deep concentration and distinct mineral notes to the wine. The 2019 vintage is a blend of 88.5% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4.5% Cabernet Franc. Upholding traditional methods, the grapes are hand-harvested and subjected to rigorous multi-stage sorting. The wine is then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (approximately 50% new), achieving a seamless integration of refined oak and pure fruit expression.
