Description
🏰 【 Winery Legend: Domaine de la Pousse d'Or 】

The history of Domaine de la Pousse d'Or traces back to the medieval Duchy of Burgundy, having once been an asset of the French Crown. While the estate has long been anchored in Volnay, its true modern renaissance began in 1997 when Patrick Landanger, an entrepreneur deeply passionate about Burgundy, acquired the property. He invested heavily in modernizing the facilities and expanding the vineyards. In 2008, the domaine made a strategic expansion into the Côte de Nuits by acquiring Domaine Moine-Buhlan, securing prestigious parcels including the illustrious Clos de la Roche Grand Cru. Today, the estate is managed by Patrick's son, Benoît Landanger. Benoît has not only carried forward his father's vision but has also fully converted the domaine to biodynamic viticulture, pushing this historic estate to new heights of terroir purity.

🌿 【 Terroir & Winemaking 】

The Clos de la Roche Grand Cru is located in the northern part of the Morey-Saint-Denis village, bordering the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation. The domaine's parcel features extremely shallow, rocky soils rich in hard limestone, endowing the Pinot Noir with a formidable structure and profound minerality. Benoît strictly adheres to biodynamic practices, carefully controlling yields. The grapes are 100% hand-harvested and subjected to two rigorous sorting processes. Winemaking involves a cold maceration of about 7 days to extract pure fruit aromas, followed by native yeast fermentation. The wine is then aged (élevage) for 15 to 18 months in French oak barrels, with the proportion of new oak deliberately kept around 30% to prevent masking the natural terroir tension of the Grand Cru. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered.

📅 【 Vintage Analysis & Critic Scores 】

The 2020 vintage in Burgundy is widely celebrated as an exceptional year of immense power and concentration. A hot, dry growing season led to a very early harvest, with many picking by mid-to-late August. Thanks to deep-rooted old vines and the resilience provided by biodynamic farming, the 2020 Pinot Noir managed to achieve astonishing concentration and ripe fruit profiles while miraculously retaining brilliant, crisp acidity. The Clos de la Roche from this vintage features a massive structure, dense tannins, and virtually limitless aging potential.

🏅 Score: Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 93-95/100

"The 2020 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru delivers aromas of dark berry fruit, sweet soil tones, spices and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, rich and concentrated, with powdery tannins and a long, penetrating finish." - William Kelley
Translation: 2020 年份的洛奇特級園展現出深色漿果、甜美的土壤氣息、香料與生可可的香氣。酒體中等至豐滿,濃郁且集中,帶有粉末狀的單寧與悠長、具穿透力的餘韻。

🍷 【 Tasting Notes 】

👃 Aroma: Opens with a profound bouquet of dark cherries, black plums, and wild blackberries, slowly revealing complex layers of licorice, baking spices, and raw cocoa, all underpinned by the earthy, rocky minerality classic to Morey-Saint-Denis.

👅 Palate: Full-bodied, broad-shouldered, and immensely powerful. The 2020 vintage delivers a deeply concentrated core of black fruit, tightly wrapped by a formidable framework of fine, powdery tannins. The brilliant acidity provides exceptional balance and vibrant energy to this muscular wine.

✨ Finish: Exceptionally long and penetrating, concluding with a resonant, saline minerality and subtle spice notes that linger endlessly on the palate.

🍽️ 【 Serving Guidelines 】

🌡️ Temperature: 16°C to 18°C

⌛ Decanting: Given its youth and massive structure, a minimum of 2 hours in a decanter is highly recommended to allow the firm tannins to soften and the deep, complex aromas to unfurl.

⏳ Drinkability: 2030 to 2050 (Requires patience to reach its absolute peak)

🍴 Food Pairing: Roast venison, classic Boeuf Bourguignon with truffles, herb-crusted rack of lamb, or aged hard cheeses.

💬 【 Manager's Pick 】

⚡ This Clos de la Roche from Domaine de la Pousse d'Or is a true heavyweight champion of Burgundy Grand Crus! The 2020 vintage experienced serious heat, yet the acidity is astonishingly fresh, balancing the intense, multi-layered fruit perfectly. Since Benoît fully transitioned the estate to biodynamic farming, the transparency of the terroir in their wines has become phenomenal. Clos de la Roche is famous for its firm structure and immense aging capability. This 2020 is still a baby; lock it away in the cellar for a decade, and when those tannins fully resolve, it will be an absolute showstopper. A must-collect masterpiece for serious Burgundy aficionados! ⚡
