Description
🏰 【 Winery Legend: Domaine Roulot (魯洛酒莊) 】

Located in the village of Meursault in Burgundy, Domaine Roulot has been celebrated for crafting wines of crystalline purity and precision since its founding in 1830 by Guillaume Roulot. In the 20th century, Guy Roulot elevated the estate to legendary status, becoming a pioneer in bottling single-vineyard Meursault Lieux-dits separately to showcase individual terroirs. In 1989, his son Jean-Marc Roulot, who also pursued a career as a professional actor in Paris, took the helm. He not only honored his family's legacy but pushed the domaine to the absolute pinnacle of white Burgundy—often mentioned in the same breath as Coche-Dury—through rigorous organic and biodynamic farming. While internationally revered for Chardonnay, Roulot's Pinot Noir reveals the same masterful dedication to elegance, tension, and crystalline transparency.

🌿 【 Terroir Soul & Élevage 】

The Monthélie appellation, situated intimately between Meursault and Volnay, features clay and limestone soils rich in iron, imparting delicate minerality and a firm structural backbone to the wines. This Domaine Roulot Monthelie Rouge is sourced from a tiny 0.36-hectare plot of vines planted in the late 1980s. In the cellar, Jean-Marc Roulot employs a low-intervention philosophy with 100% destemming. The must is kept at a low temperature for 3 to 4 days before fermentation begins in open-top wooden cuves. Fermentation lasts about 12 days, with gentle pump-overs and occasional punch-downs to strictly avoid over-extraction. The wine is then aged for 12 to 15 months in barrels, utilizing a very modest 15-18% new oak to preserve the absolute purity of the Pinot Noir fruit and its authentic terroir expression.

📅 【 Vintage Analysis & Authority Scoring 】

The 2019 vintage in Burgundy is widely regarded as a legendary year. A mild winter followed by a chilly spring with biting frosts naturally limited yields. However, the warm, dry summer allowed the grapes to achieve perfect ripeness. The 2019 Pinot Noirs are celebrated for their superb concentration and exuberant aromatics, while miraculously maintaining bright, racy acidity and structural tension despite the solar conditions.

🏅 Score: CellarTracker 91

"The fruit has beautiful purity and elegance. Emphasizes finesse with the characteristics of low extraction." - CellarTracker Expert Review
"果實展現出美麗的純淨度與優雅感。強調細膩度,具有低萃取率的特徵。" - CellarTracker 專家酒評

🍷 【 Tasting Notes 】

👃 Nose: Opens with bright, high-toned aromas of red cherries, pomegranate, and cranberries, elegantly layered with violet florals. Subtle undertones of fresh earth, white pepper, and a hint of licorice add immense complexity.
👅 Palate: Medium to light-bodied, showcasing astonishing purity. The ruby-red fruit profile is vibrant and precise, framed by fine-grained tannins and an electric acidity that speaks volumes of Roulot's low-extraction philosophy.
✨ Finish: Long, fresh, and mineral-driven, leaving a lingering trace of red berries and delicate savory spices on the palate.

🍽️ 【 Drinking Guide 】

🌡️ Temperature: 14-16°C
⌛ Decanting: 30-45 minutes in the bottle to allow the delicate florals to fully open up.
⏳ Drinking Window: 2024 - 2032
🍴 Food Pairing: Roasted duck breast, truffle mushroom risotto, roasted quail, or lightly seasoned game birds.

💬 【 Manager's Pick 】

⚡ When you hear the name Roulot, you instantly think of their cult-status white Burgundies, but their Monthélie Rouge is an absolute hidden gem! Jean-Marc applies the exact same philosophy to his Pinot Noir as he does his Chardonnay: a relentless pursuit of purity, precision, and elegance. The 2019 vintage delivers an explosive core of fruit perfectly balanced by mouth-watering acidity. With such a minuscule production, this is incredibly rare to find. If you spot a bottle, grab it—it's undeniably one of the best-kept secrets in Burgundy! ⚡
