The Pinot Noir grapes for this wine were sourced from a parcel of venerable old vines (Vieilles Vignes) averaging 75 years of age. Under Bernard Dugat-Py's rigorous management, the yield was drastically restricted to a mere 19 hectoliters per hectare in 2001. Following manual harvesting, the wine underwent traditional fermentation and was aged in 100% new French oak barrels for 16 to 18 months. It was bottled unfiltered to preserve its ultimate terroir expression and staggering concentration.
